Deferring simply moves the exam to the next available sitting; your course grade will be awarded once you take and pass that exam. No marks are lost, and your programme timeline remains unaffected.

Examination Mode Designed for Academic
Integrity and Accessibility
At the end of every course in the trimester, students are required to appear for a trimester end exams to demonstrate their learning. The mode of examination is determined by the student's country of residence.
Students residing in India will take their exams in person at one of BITS Pilani’s officially designated examination centres.
Exam Format & Schedule
- Trimester end exams for each course are typically scheduled on Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays. For each course, students can choose between two available date and time options for trimester end exams—making it easier to plan around personal and professional commitments.
- Students must adhere to the published exam schedule, rules, and guidelines announced prior to each exam.
Designated Exam Centres Across India
Choose from 24 centres spread across major cities in four zones:
South Zone – Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Vijayawada
North Zone – Chandigarh, Dehradun, Delhi NCR, Jaipur, Jammu, Lucknow, Pilani, Srinagar
West Zone – Ahmedabad, Goa, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune

Students may update their preferred exam centre each trimester, subject to availability.
Students residing outside India will take their exams in an online proctored format from their country of residence.

The 3-Year B.Sc. in Data Science & AI is also a complete undergraduate degree programme designed for students who wish to earn a bachelor’s qualification in three years. The 4-Year B.S. Degree includes all the learning of the B.Sc. in the first three years and then builds further with a fourth year of specialised courses, advanced projects, and deeper exposure to emerging areas in Data Science and AI.
Both programmes have the same admission eligibility criteria, and students can choose based on their long-term goals:
- If you wish to pursue a 3-year undergraduate degree, you can enrol in the B.Sc.
- If you’re aiming for a 4-year degree particularly if you're considering Master’s admissions abroad or institutes, where a 4-year undergraduate degree is often required, or you want to gain greater depth and specialisation — the B.S. is the better fit.
What adds to the flexibility is that BITS Pilani Digital allows you to decide or change your path as you go:
- Students enrolled in the B.S. programme can exit after three years with a B.Sc. degree, if they choose.
- Students enrolled in the B.Sc. programme can upgrade to the B.S. in their third year and continue into the fourth year.
